The story of how we came to be the Noel family- Part 3
It seems only fitting to continue the story of how we became the Noel family this week. This is the week that the boy who made me a momma turns six. So let's back up and see how he came to be a Noel.
At the end of the last post, I shared that we had just signed on with Christian Adoption Consultants, finished our home study, sent out our agency applications and were in that stage of waiting. We sent everything out on April first, and we saw a few cases and I think we presented to a few. April turned to May, and we continued waiting. Now to many, a month may not seem like a long time- but it felt like an eternity. My desire to be a momma grew every day- especially while I was setting up a nursery, buying tiny onesies, updating our registry daily, and even putting onesies on the dog. hahaha
May 13 came like any other day- I went about my day at work, came home, cooked dinner, and got in bed to watch Friends with my guy like we did every night. About 9:30 his phone rang- this was unusual, because everyone knows we are old people and like being in bed by 9. We usually don't answer numbers that we don't know, but something told us to answer this call. On the other end of the line we heard, "Hello! We presented your profile to an expectant mom and she chose you! You are going to have a son! Congratulations!"
At this point, I was wondering if we were being pranked- but we weren't! We called lots of friends and family, (and probably woke a few people up) and were just beyond excited. it was a surprise, because we didn't even know our profile was being shown!
Fast forward 2 months, and it was time to travel to Florida to meet our amazing birthparents and our boy! I forgot to mention that we had found out about his extra chromosome about 3 weeks before he was born. We were so so excited, but Dex wanted to stay put. They had to induce his birthmom, and finally out he came- with his birthparents and his daddy and I in the room- 2 days after his due date.
The moment I had waited so long for was here, and we became a family of 3. Declan Janek Noel was born on July 23, and he has been bringing joy to our days ever since!
There are so many little details I left out, but my awesome hubby wrote a book! I want to give a copy of the book away in honor of Dex's birthday, along with a $20 starbucks giftcard. Dex loves the Green Tea Lemonades from Starbucks, so I thought that would work!
