My dearest boys,

This is a thank you letter from me to you.

I want to thank you for brightening my world from the moment you came into it. You have been the sweetest gifts, that I had not clue that I wanted or needed. Your smiles, laughter, and love are such sweet joys to your daddy and I.

I want to thank you for being brave. Before you, I wouldn’t have considered myself a brave person. You boys have taught me to be brave. Whether you are going to the doctor for shots, blood draws, tests, or even going into surgeries- you guys are so brave. I have to follow your lead when we have to do those things, because I am not brave and don’t want you to ever have to feel any pain or fear, but we know that is not how the world works. And even if you have a moment you don’t feel super brave, snuggles and kisses fill up your bravery tanks ever single time. Please don’t ever outgrow that.

Dex, I have also seen your bravery so much since you started school. You walk into environments that are loud and hard and where you are often not understood- and you freaking rock it. I am thankful for your example of bravery when it comes to doing hard things.

Thank you for being confident in who you are and never changing to be who someone else tells you that you should be. Your daddy and I tell you both how awesome you are daily. And we aren’t saying that because we have to, we are saying it because we believe it. I love that you both have such different personalities, but you are who you are. I want to be like you when I grow up. Your momma cares way too much about what other people think of her.

Thank you for loving me and forgiving me when I make mistakes. I am learning on this parenting journey right along with you, and I don’t always get it right. Often times, it is trial and error and you kids are always so gracious with me and your daddy.

Thank you for showing others that Down syndrome is not something to be hidden or scared of. You are exactly who God made you to be and I am so thankful for that. You have changed so many lives since the day you both entered the world.

I am so thankful that I was chosen to be your momma and walk this beautiful journey with you boys.
I will never stop shouting your worth or advocating my booty off for you boys.

I love you with my whole heart, my Dex and my Gus. My whole entire heart.

Love,

Momma
