Updating My Momma Uniform for Spring
I write this post and laugh a little because I feel like I got out my sandals and short sleeves, and then was wearing sweaters for three days then back to sandals. This weather is crazy!
It is no secret that I love shopping, and fashion. I enjoy putting things together, keeping up with what is in style. I love following fashion bloggers and I find lots of inspiration from them.
I am a mother of two young kids, so my normal uniform is jeans, t-shirt, cardigan and sandals or booties. Seriously- that is 90% of my closet. I have to have easy clothes that are comfortable for carrying 6 bags and a kid, playing on the floor, has pockets for snacks, doesn’t flash the world when I lean over, and that I don’t mind getting any number of things on throughout the day. Comfort is key.
Each season, I go through my clothes and get rid of things I haven’t worn in awhile, and make room for a few new things. I have a few guidelines I follow when it comes to updating.
Set a budget and stick to it.
Take inventory of what you have, and what things you can get to make new outfits from what you already have.
Layers that can be worn in the spring and summer.
A few of my favorite things I got this year are:
Free People Shirt: This was my splurge. I usually pick one thing and splurge on it. I had been watching this shirt and when it went on a great sale, I snatched it up. It is so lightweight and comfortable- I am so glad I got it. I will be wearing it all the time.
Dressier Top: This shirt is a little dressier, and I purchased it to wear on a date night or when I need something a little more fancy. (Yep, now I am singing Reba) It looks a little fancier, but it is made out of lightweight sweatshirt material. It has ¾ sleeves which are perfect for spring. (This shirt is on clearance right now!)
A Fun Blazer- I Love this blazer, I wore it for easter, but I have also worn it over a graphic tee with jeans and flats. I love a good blazer, and this pattern screams spring. (It’s on clearance too!)
Button up Tunic- Old Navy has been killing it lately with amazing sales and adorable clothes. I love that this shirt is lightweight, tunic length, and it would even look super cute under that blazer.
T-shirt Dress: Again, this can be dressed up, or down. I will wear it with tennis shoes and my army green vest. Or I will layer it with the kimono below with heels. Comfort and layers. All my favorite things!
Kimono: Love this because it is lightweight, and can transition well. I’ve worn it over dresses, graphic tees, solid tank tops- really anything. And again, this print screams spring.
So as you can see, I just added a few pieces that are comfortable, can be layered, and scream spring!
What are your top spring picks, friends?
